I'm taking today off from work, but before continuing to catch up on some much needed sleep I must sadly note yesterday's suicide of Hunter Thompson. Forget about Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas and check out Hell's Angels, Fear & Loathing On The Campaign Trail '72 or his first collection of letters, Proud Highway, to get some idea of how great this man was before his writing descended into a weak parody of itself by the early eighties. He was one of my favorite authors in high school, I still go back to reread some of his stuff every few years, and even though it's really not all that good I think I'm going to watch Where The Buffalo Roam later this afternoon after a little more recuperative napping.
